News Release
KEY WEST,
Key West, and a significant portion of the Florida Keys, were minimally affected by Tropical Storm Bonnie as it passed through southern Miami-Dade County. The Coast Guard’s decision to reopen the port means that all restrictions previously imposed upon vessels over 500 gross tons have been lifted.
Additionally, the Snake Creek and Boot Key Harbor bridges have also resumed normal operations as of noon.
In accordance with the Coast Guard’s South Florida Hurricane Plan, the Captain of the Port of Key West set Port Condition Zulu yesterday, imposing vessel movement restrictions when gale force winds were expected to impact the port within 12 hours.
