COAST GUARD MEDEVACED MISSING SWIMMER

FT. MYERS, Fla. - A Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Clearwater medevaced a man at 3:30 p.m. Friday from an area near Little Marco Island in the Gulf of Mexico.

Michael Sutton, 31, from Pompano, Fla., and a friend were swimming early this morning when he disappeared under the waves.

The Coast Guard launched a 41-foot rescue boat from Station Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and an HH-60 rescue helicopter to assist the Collier County Sheriff's office with an extensive search of the area.

Sutton was spotted and hoisted by the helicopter crew. Sutton was suffering from exhaustion and dehydration when the crew took him to Naples Airport where he was transported to local EMS.
