By Lt. Rob Stotz, Air Station Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Cmdr. Peter Troedsson relinquished command of Air Station Savannah to Cmdr. Todd Sokalzuk during a July 14 ceremony here. Rear Adm. Brian Peterman, commander, Coast Guard Seventh District, presided over the change of command.

During Troedsson's two years in command, Air Station Savannah saved or assisted the lives of more than 200 people, protected government leaders at the G-8 Summit and pioneered the development and use of rotary wing air intercept operations for the Coast Guard. Troedsson is now en route to Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala., to pursue a master's degree in "National Security Studies" at the U.S. Air Force Air War College.
