MIGRANT MEDIVACED FROM DESECHEO ISLAND

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The crew of an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Borinquen spotted a yola 15 miles west of Desecheo island making way to Puerto Rico. 

The yola landed on Desecheo Island and broke apart on the rocky shore where all 10 Dominican Republic nationals were apprehended by Customs and Border Protection Agents that were put into position on the island by a DHS HU-60 Blackhawk helicopter. 

One of the migrants sustained chest injuries when the yola crashed into the rocks and was medivaced by the HH-65 Dolphin crew to an ambulance waiting on the ground at Air Station Borinquen.  

The remaining nine migrants were transferred to CBP facilities in Aquadilla, Puerto Rico.
