COAST GUARD SEARCHES FOR LIFERAFT BELIEVED TO BE CARRYING 9 PASSENGERS FROM CAPSIZED VESSEL CORTEZ, Fla. - The Coast Guard is searching with a C-130 airplane and an HH-60 helicopter from Air Station Clearwater for nine people who reportedly embarked a liferaft when their catamaran Endeavor began to capsize five miles west of Egmont Key, Fla. The Coast Guard received a distress call from the vessel shortly after midnight and immediately launched an HH-60 helicopter and a C-130 airplane and a rescue boat from Station Cortez to conduct a search. No further information regarding the origin of the vessel or the identity of its passengers is available and there are no correlating reports of missing people. Weather conditions are 2-3 foot seas and 15 knot winds and are expected to deteriorate to 5-8 foot seas and 20-knot winds this afternoon.
