*Editor's Note* A boat will be available to media interested in viewing the drill. Media wishing to be on the boat need to be at Station Lake Worth Inlet by 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
WHO: Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, Palm Beach County Fire and Rescue, Palm Beach County Emergency Operations Center, Jupiter Police Department, Boynton Beach Police Department, Riviera Beach Police Department, Riviera Beach Fire Department, Riviera Beach Ocean Rescue, Palm Beach County Ocean Rescue, Healthcare Emergency Response Coalition (HERC) of Palm Beach County and Sea Tow Palm Beach.
WHAT: A complex, realistic scenario has been developed that will test the response capabilities and incident management skills of emergency responders during a drill scenario involving a vessel collision between a 30-foot small boat and a water taxi carrying approximately 30 people.
WHEN: Tuesday, May 18. The scenario will begin at 10 a.m. and last approximately 3 hours.
WHERE: The drill will take place in Little Lake Worth Lagoon in the Intercoastal Waterway off Riviera Beach and at Phil Foster Park, Riviera Beach.
WHY: The exercise is aimed at testing response, communications and collaboration efforts of local agencies in the event of a large-scale maritime search and rescue incident.
