Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet, partner agencies to host open house

WHO: Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet, Coast Guard Auxiliary, U.S. Navy Sea Cadets, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, Jupiter Police Department, North Palm Beach Fire and Rescue, TowBoat U.S., SeaTow, Gumbo Limbo Turtles, and Manatee Rescue.

WHAT: Open house event -- Partners involved in the open house are offering numerous activities, including: tours of the station grounds and vessels; live demonstrations of a helicopter air-sea rescue and drug hunting and attack dogs; exhibits and lectures that focus on marine safety, environmental concerns, manatee and turtle protection; and boating safety. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet Robot Coastie Boat and PFD Panda. For parents, Ident-A-Kid will be on hand to offer their services in child safety.

WHEN: Saturday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE: Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet, 3300 Lake Shore Drive, Riviera Beach, Fla., 33404. Directions to the Station: Take I-95 to Blue Heron Blvd. east, turn left (north) on Broadway (Rte.1) to first traffic light, turn right on Silver Beach and follow to Station Lake Worth (on the left).

WHY: The family friendly, free event will kick off National Safe Boating Week (May 22-28) and will focus on the “Wear It” campaign, which educates boaters on how to save lives by wearing a life jacket and being a safe boater.
