COAST GUARD CONDUCTS JOINT TRAINING EXERCISE FOR PREPAREDNESS OF ANTI-TERRORISM RESPONSES
***VIDEO AND INTERVIEW AVAILABILITY***

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Coast Guard Group St. Petersburg  will be conducting a training exercise this morning with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to demonstrate their ability to cohesively respond to a potential terrorism threat.

A hijacking scenario will play out on the Emerald Express, a shuttle for the casino boat Ocean Jewel homeported at the Port of St. Petersburg.  It will entail the use of a Coast Guard helicopter from Air Station Clearwater and a 41-foot rescue boat from Station St. Petersburg for delivery of the multi-agency law enforcement personnel to the Emerald Express to evaluate, control and contain the incident.

The agencies' objective is to enhance their ability to respond to any high-threat boardings by establishing personal and professional relationships based on consistent and teamwork-oriented training partnerships.

Editor's note: Video and interviews with the Coast Guard team leader and a FWCC representative will be made available after the exercise.  Media are asked to arrive at Coast Guard Group St. Petersburg's North Moorings at 3 p.m.
