JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Coast Guard and the Florida National Guard's 44th Civil Support Team will take part in a joint training exercise aboard Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville located in Mayport, Fla., Wednesday at 2 p.m.
The purpose of the exercise is to provide essential training to both Florida National Guardsmen and Guardians to be prepared to respond to a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) situation in a maritime environment. As part of the training, the 44th CST will provide the Coast Guard with classroom training focused on medical issues in a CBRN situation. In addition, the Coast Guard, utilizing the 87-foot Coast Guard Cutter Kingfisher and the 175-foot Coast Guard Cutter Maria Bray, will provide the 44th CST with training on how to board a maritime vessel under CBRN conditions.
