Coast Guard suspends search for missing woman near Key West

KEY WEST, Fla. -- Coast Guard search-and-rescue coordinators at Sector Key West have suspended their search for Michelle Henson, 37, of Key West pending further developments.

Coast Guard launched a multi-day search for Henson after Henson's neighbor reported her missing Thursday near Cow Key Channel, between Key West and Stock Island, Fla.. Henson's neighbor reported Henson departed her live-aboard boat and hadn't returned as expected.

Coast Guard issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and launched a boatcrew from Station Key West to search the area but so far all efforts have not returned any signs of Henson.

Coast Guard received information from a local citizen reporting they thought they saw Henson in Key West on Thursday but the report could not be verified and local searches of the area by Key West Police Department officers yielded no results.

Coast Guard search-and-rescue watchstanders have suspended the active search for Henson pending further developments as of 3:45 p.m. Friday. If anyone has any information on Henson they are asked to contact the Coast Guard by VHF radio on Channel 16 or dial directly to 305-295-9700.
