POLLUTION PREVENTION AND RESPONSE AGREEMENT TO BE SIGNED BETWEEN THE BVI & U.S. **Media Availability** ROAD TOWN, British Virgin Islands - Tomorrow, the Governments of the United States of America and the British Virgin Islands will be entering into an agreement concerning assistance to be rendered during discharge of oil or other hazardous and noxious substances into waters of the BVI. This agreement is designed to enhance the ability to respond to a major discharge of oil or other hazardous substances in the vicinity of the British Virgin Islands. To enact this agreement, a signing ceremony will be held on board the Coast Guard cutter Confidence, based in Port Canaveral, Fla. Representing the U.S. will be Rear Adm. Thomas Gilmour, Assistant Commandant for Marine Safety, Security and Environmental Protection, accompanied by Capt. William Uberti, Commanding Officer, Marine Safety Office San Juan.
