CGC Mohawk returns home after mission to Haiti

KEY WEST, Fla. - The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk returned to its homeport of Key West Monday after a two-month deployment which included relief efforts in Haiti.

The Mohawk crew spent countless hours evacuating critical patients by small boat from a makeshift clinic in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to the Mohawk where they were then medically evacuated to alternate locations for further treatment. The cutter's embarked MH-65 Dolphin helicopter, from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit, successfully airlifted about 16 patients for further treatment.
