Coast Guard searching for missing male boater near Marco Island

MARCO ISLAND, Fla. - The Coast Guard is searching for a missing male boater near Marco Island who was reported missing since about 4:30 p.m., Friday.

Maryann Larimer contacted the Marco Island Police Department at about 4:30 p.m., and reported that her husband Jake Larimer, 67, left on his 26-foot deck boat early Friday morning and did not return.

The Marco Island Police Department contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St.Petersburg, Fla., and requested assistance in the search for Larimer. A Coast Guard Falcon fixed-wing aircraft from Air Station Miami, Fla., along with land and water assets from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Collier County Sheriff's Office and Marco Island Police and Fire Department are searching from Ft. Myers Beach, Fla. to Cape Romono, Fla., for Larimer.
