Coast Guard rescues two from capsized vessel

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Rescue crews from Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg rescued two men Monday after their 18-foot boat overturned near the Howard Franklin Bridge in St. Petersburg.

Watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a phone call at 3:58 p.m. reporting that a boat was capsized approximately 200-yards south of the Howard Franklin Bridge, with two people onboard.

Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg immediately launched a 25-foot response boat crew and rescued Brian Lauman and John Bedingfield who were sitting atop the hull
of the capsized catamaran at approximately 4:30 p.m.

The Lauman and Bedingfield were reportedly uninjured and transferred to the Howard Franklin Bridge launch ramp.
