UPDATE: ONE SURVIVOR LOCATED, SEARCH CONTINUES FOR ONE MORE FROM DOWNED AIRCRAFT
SAN JUAN, P.R. – A Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew has located, hoisted and safely transferred one person to St. Thomas Hospital in St. Thomas. More units are currently on scene searching for another person who may possibly be in the water.
The plane, a Convair aircraft, was carrying cargo from San Juan to St. Maarten.
A Coast Guard HU-25 Falcon jet, Coast Guard Cutter Sapelo homeported in San Juan, and a Good Samaritan vessel, the Tropic Atlantic, will also provide assistance in the search for survivors.
