| Coast Guard urges caution due to adverse weather |
| MIAMI - With heavy weather predicted through the weekend, and into next week, the Coast Guard is urging the maritime community and boating public to monitor coastal and offshore weather conditions before deciding to go out on the sea.
Due to high winds and rough seas predicted over the coming days, a small-craft advisory is expected to remain in effect for much of South Florida throughout the weekend. Mariners are urged to use caution and monitor forecasts closely. Hurricane Ida is currently located about 650 miles south of Pensacola, Fla., and mariners are urged to follow the progression of Hurricane Ida closely. Up-to-date storm information can be viewed at http://www.nhc/noaa.gov/. Adverse weather effects generated by a depression, storm, or hurricane can cover an area hundreds of miles wide. Even those recreational boaters and the maritime industry who fall outside the direct path of a storm are advised to be cognizant of dangerous weather conditions and take appropriate precautions to stay safe and minimize damage.
