Coast Guard responds to military aircraft collision off Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coast Guard is responding to a report of a collision between two military aircraft approximately 30-miles northeast of Charleston Thursday evening.
Coast Guard Sector Charleston received a report from Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., at approximately 8:30 p.m. that two military aircraft collided and that one of the aircraft was down in the Atlantic Ocean. Coast Guard Sector Charleston immediately launched search and rescue personnel to assist.
Involved in the search are:
An HH-65C Dolphin helicopter from Air Facility Charleston
The Coast Guard Cutter Yellowfin from Charleston
A Coast Guard Station Charleston small boat
