Missing Palm Beach man located deceased

Updated Information: The name of the missing man has been changed due to the Coast Guard receiving additional information.  It is Amilcar Ramirez, not Amirga Morales, as previously released.

MIAMI - The
Coast Guard ended its search Monday for a 24-year-old male who reportedly disappeared from the Southern Boulevard Bridge in Palm Beach, Fla., Sunday.

Amilcar Ramirez was located deceased in the water by a Coast Guard smallboat crew at approximately 11:45 a.m. near a private boat dock a half-mile north of where he reportedly went in the water.  The body was transferred to Palm Beach Medical Examiners where he was positively identified.

Palm Beach Police Department officials requested assistance with search efforts around 5:46 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report that Ramirez disappeared from the Southern Boulevard Bridge. According to reports, Ramirez was fishing from the bridge and walked into the water to untangle his fishing line.

Units that searched were:

  • MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crews from Coast Guard Air Station Miami.
  • Coast Guard 33-foot rescue boat crews from Station Lake Worth Inlet.
  • Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
  • Officers from the Palm Beach Police Department.
  • West Palm Beach Fire Rescue crews.
  • A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission boat crew.
