| Coast Guard assists Venice Police Department with rescue of 3 divers |

VENICE, Fla. - The Coast Guard assisted in the rescue of three divers aboard a 20-foot, white, aqua-sport vessel, Thursday at about 10 a.m., after the vessel capsized 14 miles southwest of Venice Inlet, Fla. A passenger aboard the vessel contacted the Venice Police Department from a cell phone at about 8:45 a.m., and reported to be sinking with three people aboard 16 miles west of Venice Inlet. A Venice Police Department boat crew along with a 25-foot smallboat crew from Coast Guard Station Cortez, At 10:17 a.m., the HH-60 Jayhawk rescue crew located the vessel capsized with three people clinging to the hull. Members from the Venice Police Department boat crew safely recovered all three divers. No injuries were reported. |
