| Coast Guard medevacs 57-year-old man |
| TAMPA, Fla. - The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 57-year-old male from a recreational vessel about 30-miles west of Tampa Bay, at approximately 5:45 p.m. Friday.
Crewmembers aboard the vessel Brown Eyed Girl contacted Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, Fla., command center at 4:20 p.m. reporting that David Baptist, hometown unknown, was suffering from decompression sickness after scuba diving and needed immediate medical attention. Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg search-and-rescue coordinators launched an HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla., and safely hoisted Baptist aboard the aircraft. Baptist was taken to Florida Hospital in Orlando at about 6:45 p.m. |
