Coast Guard searching for 2 boaters near Fort Pierce, Fla.


MIAMI - The Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews are searching for two overdue boaters Monday who did not return to Black Pearl Boat Ramp in Fort Pierce, Fla., Sunday.

A family member contacted search and rescue coordinators at the Seventh Coast Guard District Command Center in Miami around 9:30 p.m. Sunday to report that Vincent Faulkner and an unknown passenger departed the Black Pearl Boat Ramp at noon and had yet to return from their fishing trip.

Assisting with the search are:

  • An HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami
  • An HU-25 Falcon jet crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami
  • A 25-foot Defender Class response boat from Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce
  • The crew of the 87-foot Coast Guard Cutter Cormorant        

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Vincent Faulkner or the second person aboard are asked to contact the Coast Guard at 305-415-6800.
