JACKSONVILLE. Fla - The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan responded to a distress call from a sinking vessel with two people onboard three-miles off the coast of Jacksonville Friday.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville operations center received a mayday distress call from the operator of the 66-foot fishing boat Yvonne, at approximately 2:06 a.m., Friday, indicating they were sinking. The location of the distress was approximately 10-miles northeast from the mouth of the St. John's River and three-miles offshore.

A 47-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Mayport, Fla., arrived on-scene and removed the two passengers.  The crew of the good Samaritan vessel Shenandoah also assisted. The passengers will be transported to local medical personnel waiting ashore.
