| Charleston captain of the port establishes regulated areas for Harbor Fest |

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Coast Guard captain of the port for Charleston has established regulated areas for recreational vessels wishing to view tall ships during Harbor Fest. The regulated areas extend 300 yards seaward around the Passenger Terminal and Maritime Center. Vessels must use caution and stay at least 50 feet away from tall ships. Vessels must always operate at a slow, safe speed and comply with instructions of on-scene Coast Guard and local law On Saturday and Sunday, a safety zone is scheduled to be established each day for the duration of the air shows. No vessel may enter the safety zone without the permission of the Coast Guard. On Monday at 3 p.m., a Parade of Sail safety zone is scheduled to be established 150 yards in front of the lead ship to 50 yards behind the last tall ship participating in the parade. No vessel may enter the safety zone without the permission of the Coast Guard. |
