Coast Guard gives public Sea Partner presentations

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Coast Guard is scheduled to give four Sea Partner campaign presentations beginning Tuesday to help raise awareness to the devastating effects pollution has on the maritime environment.

 Sea Partner campaign events will be held at the following:

 Tuesday - Collins Park, North Charleston, S.C., 12:45 p.m.

 Wednesday - YMCA, Summerville, S.C., 10 a.m.

 Wednesday - Ponds subdivision, Summerville, S.C., 11a.m.

 Friday - recreational department, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.,1 p.m.

Each event is expected to last for approximately 45 minutes and will include a speaker, photos and video presentation.

 The Sea Partners Campaign is an environmental education and outreach program. Its focus is on communities at large to develop community awareness of maritime pollution issues and to improve compliance with marine environmental protection laws and regulations.

Sea Partners messages include:

1. The effects of oil, hazardous chemicals, waste and debris on the marine environment.

2. How marine environmental protection laws and regulations apply to various marine users.

3. Ways groups and individuals can take action to protect the marine environment.
