Coast Guard rescues 3 adults, 2 children

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Coast Guard rescued five people from Lake George, Fla., Sunday after inclement weather caused a recreational vessel to capsize at approximately 5 p.m.

Three adults and two children were rescued by Coast Guard Station Mayport, Fla., crew members who were conducting a training operation on Lake George when the vessel capsized. Two adults and two children were trapped under the vessel when the Coast Guard arrived on scene.

The five people were removed from the water and taken to Juniper Springs Hunt Club, in Salt Springs, Fla., to awaiting emergency medical services.

The Coast Guard reminds boaters to always wear your life jacket and to have an emergency positioning indicating radio beacon aboard your vessel to assist rescuers in case of emergencies.  It is also very important to be aware of ever changing weather conditions.
