***Media Advisory*** Clearwater Coast Guard to host search-and-rescue demonstration

Media Note: Media interested in attending the event are requested to arrive at Coast Guard Station Sand Key by 9:30 a.m. and to Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater by 8 a.m.  Please contact Petty Officer Rob Simpson at 305-965-4672 to secure space aboard the Coast Guard vessel.  Only one space is available aboard the helicopter, and the position will be filled on a first-call-first-served basis.  The helicopter footage must be pooled.

WHAT:  In conjunction with National Safe Boating Week, the Coast Guard will host a search-and-rescue demonstration and prove the importance of carrying signaling equipment.  Media is invited to get underway aboard a 47-foot motor-life boat and one pooled videographer spot will be available in a Coast Guard helicopter.

WHEN:  10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20.

WHERE: Coast Guard Station Sand Key, located at 1375 Gulf Blvd., Clearwater, Fla., and the pool videographer should arrive at Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, located at 15100 Rescue Way, Clearwater, Fla.

WHO:  Interviews with crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Sand Key and Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater will be available.

WHY:  With more than one million registered boaters in Florida, the Coast Guard is promoting National Safe Boating Week May 16-22.  Boating-safety partners across the U.S. and Canada are teaming up to promote safe and responsible boating.
