| Coast Guard medevacs four injured people after vessel fire |
| TAMPA, Fla. - The Coast Guard medically evacuated four injured people after a vessel caught fire at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, near Beer Can Island, in Tampa Bay. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, in St. Petersburg, Fla., received a call from a good Samaritan at about 12:30 p.m., reporting that multiple people were in the water after a vessel had caught fire and exploded. The Coast Guard immediately launched a Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg 25-foot rescue boat crew and an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to join other agencies in the rescue. The helicopter crew arrived on-scene at about 1 p.m. and medically evacuated three injured boaters. After safely taking the injured boaters to Tampa General Hospital, in Tampa, the helicopter returned to Beer Can Island and medically evacuated another boater to Tampa General Hospital. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWCC) is investigating the cause of the incident. Agencies involved in the rescue were:
