Coast Guard medevacs 29-year-old woman from cruise ship

TAMPA, Fla. - The Coast Guard medically evacuated a woman from a cruise ship 290-miles southwest of Tampa at approximately 5:20 p.m. Monday.

Crewmembers aboard the cruise ship Carnival Legend, contacted the Seventh Coast Guard District's command center in Miami, at about 12 p.m. reporting that a 29 year-old crewmember was suffering from a serious head trauma. 

Search and rescue coordinators launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station clearwater, Fla., and safely hoisted the woman.

She was taken to Tampa General Hospital at about 7 p.m. and her condition is unknown.
