MIAMI - Coast Guard crews are searching for a father and daughter Monday who failed to return from their boating trip in the Biscayne Bay, Fla., area as expected Sunday.

Phil Burke and his eight-year-old daughter departed Black Point Marina in Miami Sunday around 4 p.m. in a white 17-foot Key West pleasure craft and were scheduled to return before dark. A family member contacted search and rescue coordinators at Coast Guard Sector Miami Command Center shortly after midnight when the two failed to contact them as expected.

Searching are:

  • An HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami.
  • A HU-25 Falcon jet crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami.
  • A small-boat crew from Station Miami Beach, Miami.
  • Two Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission boats.
  • A National Park Service boat.

If anyone has information that can help locate the two missing boaters, please contact the Sector Miami Command Center at 305-535-4472.
