**Media Advisory** Coast Guard Sector San Juan to accept new cutter

Media Note: Media interested in attending the event are requested to arrive no later than 10:40 a.m. and to contact Ricardo Castrodad at 787-510-7923 for additional information.

WHAT: Coast Guard Sector San Juan, Puerto Rico, will accept a new 87-foot coastal patrol boat, Reef Shark, during a commissioning ceremony at Sector San Juan.

WHO:

  • Coast Guard Rear Adm. Steve Branham, commander of the Coast Guard's Seventh District.
  • Donna M. Christensen, U.S. Virgin Islands delegate to Congress, keynote speaker and the ship's "sponsor".
  • Coast Guard Lt. j.g. Rachel S. Cruzcosa, first commanding officer of the Reef Shark.

WHEN: Monday, March 23 at 11 a.m.

WHERE: Coast Guard Sector San Juan
                 5 Calle La Puntilla.
                 San Juan, Puerto Rico 00901

WHY:  The Reef Shark is the final coastal patrol boat to be commissioned for Coast Guard service and will be responsible for conducting search and rescue, law enforcement, maritime safety, and homeland defense operations throughout the Caribbean Sea.
