24-year-old drowns off Guajataca

A 24-year-old male drown yesterday evening after being swept out to sea while swimming in heavy surf conditions near Guajataca, Puerto Rico.

Sadly, Francisco Rosado Torres was found dead at 7:40 a.m. in the water near where he was last seen.

The Coast Guard Rescue Coordination Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico, received an emergency phone call at 5:30 p.m. from a friend of the victim who witnessed him being swept out to sea.  The Coast Guard immediately launched an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Borinquen and diverted the cutter Vashon to the scene.  A search was conducted throughout the night.
