Coast Guard Continues Search for Missing Diver

MIAMI - The Coast Guard, and Coast Guard Auxiliary along with local and state agencies, is continuing the search for a missing 33-year-old diver near Cape Florida Light, in Miami.

Yosmany Gonzalez was reported missing to the Coast Guard around 7 p.m. Wednesday, by family and friends who he was with at the time of his disappearance.  It was reported that Gonzalez did not surface from a dive while searching for lobsters.

Assisting in the search is:

  • Two 41-foot rescue boat crews from Coast Guard Station Miami Beach, Fla.
  • An HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew and an HU-25 Falcon jet crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami.
  • A Coast Guard Auxiliary aircraft.
  • Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission boat crew.
  • Miami Dade Rescue boat crew.

Officials have been searching the area since about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.
