Coast Guard Suspends Search its Search for Missing Fisherman in Southwest Puerto Rico

MIAMI - Coast Guard search and rescue coordinators at Sector San Juan, Puerto Rico, suspended their search for missing fisherman, Victor Rosado, Saturday.

A Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Borinquen, a HU-25 Falcon jet from Air Station Miami, boat crews, divers and aircraft crews from Forces United for Rapid Action (FURA) saturated more than 348 square miles during their search for Rosado.

Rosado, 48, departed La Parguera, Lajas, Puerto Rico, in an orange 20-foot center-console boat around 4 a.m. Thursday. Rosado was reported missing after a good Samaritan noticed an unmanned boat submerged in shallow water.

"It is always difficult making the decision to suspend the search for someone," said Coast Guard Lt. Carlos Crespo, a search and rescue coordinator at Sector San Juan. "Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time."
