Coast Guard Searching For 26-Year-Old Man

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., - The Coast Guard, local and state agencies have been searching for a missing 26-year-old black male in the vicinity of Gulf Port Beach, Fla., since about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Coast Guard members at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a call from St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue officials, reporting that Alexander Picket, hometown unknown, jumped off Williams Pier in Gulf Port Beach and was unable to swim back to the pier.  Picket's friend Darnell Parker, 23, attempted to bring Picket back to shore but was unsuccessful.

The Gulf Port Police Department, Pinellas County Fire and Rescue, Eckerd Search and Rescue, The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, along with a Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg 25-foot rescue boat and an HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla., are searching the area for Picket.

Picket was reported to be wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.
