Local Coast Guardsman named Atlantic Area's Enlisted Person of the Year

CHARLESTON, SC - Petty Officer 1st Class Anthony R. Clark will be recognized on Thursday as the 2007 Coast Guard Atlantic Area's Enlisted Person of the Year by Rear Adm. Steven H. Ratti in a brief ceremony at Sector Charleston.

The Enlisted Person of the Year program is designed to recognize exemplary men and women from the enlisted work force from the rank of seaman apprentice through petty officer first class.  Only those personnel who demonstrate sustained exceptional standards of proficiency and conduct, and whose military appearance and bearing are consistently impeccable, are nominated for this award.

Clark, a marine science technician, is currently assigned to Coast Guard Sector Charleston.  During the past year, Clark demonstrated extraordinary competence and professionalism.  In June 2007, he deployed with the Redeployment Assistance and Inspection Detachment to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom where he worked at forward operating bases to coordinate hazardous material shipping for other armed services.

Clark is currently assigned to the Prevention Department at Sector Charleston where he is the leading petty officer in the Waterways Management Division.

If the media would like to attend, please contact Lieutenant Commander Eric King at (843)724-7616.
