Established Security Zones for Fleet Week 2008

MIAMI -- Coast Guard, state and local law-enforcement agencies will be enforcing Naval Vessel Protection Zones within Port Everglades, between Monday and Saturday, for Fleet Week 2008.

In preparation for Fleet Week 2008 events, vessel movements may be temporarily restricted in the vicinity of Port Everglades south of the 17th Street bridge to north of the hot-water canal while Fleet Week vessels arrive Monday between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. and depart Saturday between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.  Due to the large number of naval vessels entering and departing the port in a short period of time, mariners should expect significant delays.

In support of these events throughout the week, the Coast Guard also requests that mariners obey established Naval Vessel Protective Zones around all naval vessels.  All vessel traffic within 500 yards of a naval vessel must slow to no-wake speed and no vessel shall enter within 100 yards of a naval vessel.
