Coast Guard Responds to Sunken Fishing Vessel

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Savannah is responding to a sunken vessel in Turner's Creek, Ga.

MSU Savannah received notification at approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday that the vessel Daddy's Lady sank while tied to a dock.  Coast Guard pollution investigators responded to the incident location and observed a diesel fuel sheen coming from the vessel.

An oil spill removal organization has been contracted by the Coast Guard to contain the spilled fuel and remove any remaining fuel products from the vessel.

There have been no reports of people being injured as a result of the vessel sinking.  There have also been no indications of oiled wildlife at this time.

The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the sinking.
