Coast Guard Needs Information Concerning Missing Homestead Boater

MIAMI - The Coast Guard is looking for information concerning the whereabouts of Pedro Delguys, 40, a Homestead, Fla., resident believed to have been on a vessel that was found capsized12 miles east of Haulover Inlet, Fla., Sunday about 10 a.m.

A good Samaritan passed by a 30-foot white and blue Century boat belonging to Delguys overturned and immediately notified the Coast Guard using a VHF radio. The Samaritan reported that there were no people in the vicinity of the overturned vessel.

Search and rescue coordinators at Coast Guard Sector Miami launched two 33-foot SPC-LE vessels from Station Fort Lauderdale, Fla., an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Miami and the Coast Guard Cutter Kodiak Island.  A fire boat from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue also responded to the call.

Tow Boat U.S. has towed the capsized vessel to the 15th Street boat ramp in Fort Lauderdale and the Coast Guard is conducting an investigation.

The Coast Guard continues to search the area 12 miles east of Haulover Inlet.
