TWIC Enrollment Begins at Port of Miami - Media Event Thursday MIAMI - On January 31st, port workers, longshoreman, truckers and others at the Port of Miami, Fla., will join the first workers in the nation to enroll in the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program. The program ensures that any individual who has unescorted access to secure areas of port facilities and vessels has received a thorough background check and is not a security threat. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Coast Guard and the Port of Miami will provide an opportunity for media to view enrollment. Reporters will see port employees providing their biographical and biometric information so they can receive their credential. There will also be comments by and an opportunity tointerview top TSA , Coast Guard and Port officials on the program.
