Coast Guard Medevacs Crewman from Cargo Vessel Toki Arrow SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The crew of a HH-65 Dolphin helicopter medically evacuated a crewman from Bahamian general cargo vessel Toki Arrow Thursday, approximately 12 nautical miles west of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Rodney Brigocy, 28, a native of the Philippines, was serving as a crewman aboard the Toki Arrow when he reportedly broke his right leg after falling from the vessel's staging area. The Toki Arrow was transiting from Port Arthur, Texas to Brazil when the incident occurred. Coast Guard Sector San Juan Joint Rescue Sub Center controllers received a satellite phone communication at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday from medical personnel aboard the Toki Arrow who reported the incident, approximately 70 nautical miles northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Coast Guard controllers launched an HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter from Air Station Borinquen, Puerto Rico to conduct the medical evacuation. Once on scene, the helicopter crew deployed their rescue swimmer aboard the Toki Arrow and hoisted Brigocy onto the aircraft. The Dolphin helicopter crew transported the patient to Air Station Borinquen, Puerto Rico where he was transferred to awaiting Emergency Medical Service personnel, who in turn, transported the patient to the "Buen Samaritano" Hospital in Aguadilla. Afterwards, the crew of an AEROMED helicopter ambulance transferred Brigocy to the "Centro Medico" Hospital in San Juan to receive further medical care. ###
