Coast Guard Suspends Search off South Carolina
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coast Guard has suspended its search for Daniel Phallan off the coast of South Carolina Saturday evening. “It’s unfortunate that we were unable to find Daniel Phallan. We used every available resource to try and find him,” said Lt. Cmdr. Eric King, a search and rescue coordinator for Coast Guard Sector Charleston. “Our only hope is that others can learn something from this situation so that it doesn’t happen again.” The Coast Guard recommends that all boaters have a VHF radio with them when out on the water. Boaters should also bring signaling devices and know how to properly use them. According to William Phallan, both men were wearing their life jackets when their boat flipped over. ###
