Coast Guard Searches for 2 Boaters
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coast Guard is searching for a vessel taking on water four miles east of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Saturday morning.
Daniel Phallan, 29, and William Phallan, 31, both residences unknown, went out in a red16-foot boat Friday evening, which began taking on water and became disabled. They contacted the Coast Guard via cellular telephone and requested assistance.
Search and rescue crews immediately launched to search for the two men after notification. A helicopter crew from Air Facility Charleston and a boat crew from Station Georgetown, S.C., are searching for the two missing boaters. Coast Guard search and rescue coordinators have not been able to contact the two men again.
The men reported that they have lifejackets on board, but they don’t have any signaling devices with them. A small craft advisory is in effect in the area.
