Coast Guard Rescues Man Stuck in Mud CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Coast Guard rescued a man stuck in the mud near the Intra-coastal Waterway near Charleston Sunday morning. Ray Shealy, 36, of Columbia, S.C., contacted the Coast Guard on his cell phone after he became stuck in the mud. Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston immediately launched to assist Shealy. Shealy signaled the helicopter crew with a flash light. The air crew then hoisted the man to safety and brought him back to Air Facility Charleston in good condition. "The fact that Mr. Shealy had a flash light helped us find him a lot faster. He also did a great job of remaining calm and not struggling while we worked to save him," said Lt. j.g. Jeff Jacobs, Air Station Savannah pilot.
