DIRECTOR OF COUNTERNARCOTICS ENFORCEMENT VISITS LOCAL CUTTER

NOTE: Video and high-resolution photos of the Coast Guard Cutter Dallas' March 29 drug offload.

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Department of Homeland Security's Director of the Office of Counternarcotics Enforcement will visit the Coast Guard Cutter Dallas, SeaHawk, and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center here Tuesday.

Director Uttam Dhillon will tour Dallas and then participate in a ceremony at Tuesday 9 a.m. to add two new cocaine "snowflake" stickers to the bridge wing on Dallas to commemorate Dallas' most recent drug interdictions.

During Dallas' last two patrols, the crew interdicted 790 pounds of cocaine in two separate air-drop seizures and caused several drug-smuggling delivery disruptions. The two cocaine snowflake stickers will join 18 snowflakes and 17-marijuana leafs that currently adorn the Dallas' side. Each sticker represents one cocaine or marijuana bust.

The crew of Dallas recently returned to Charleston from a 66-day patrol and is scheduled to leave on patrol again later this Spring.  The Dallas is a 378-foot high endurance cutter that normally spends more than six months away from its homeport of Charleston conducting missions such as law enforcement, search and rescue, homeland security and national defense.

Local media wishing to attend should contact Lt. j.g. Kathryn McCormack at 843-308-9639 or at kmccormack@cgcdallas.uscg.mil.  Due to security requirements aboard the FLETC reservation, all media must confirm their visit before Tuesday 8 a.m.
