Coast Guard Searches For 2 Overdue Boaters Off Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands |

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Coast Guard rescue crews are searching for an overdue pleasure craft with two passengers on board, who went missing yesterday while traveling from Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, to Great Harbor, Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands. Kevin McMillan, a Jost Van Dyke resident and baker, and Roxanne Williams, also a Jost Van Dyke resident and Foxies' employee, were reported missing to the Coast Guard by Foxies' manager, Paul Mason, at approximately 3:15 p.m. yesterday. McMillan and Williams reportedly departed Jost Van Dyke at 9 p.m. yesterday and transported Franklin Shinnery to Cane Garden Bay. After having dropped off Shinnery, they were expected to return to Jost Van Dyke, however, the boaters never arrived. The missing boaters were traveling aboard a 17-foot-blue pleasure craft powered by an outboard 115-horsepower engine. McMillan was reported to be wearing yellow shorts and a yellow rain coat at the time he went missing. Coast Guard controllers immediately launched an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Borinquen, Puerto Rico, and British Virgin Islands Search and Rescue VISAR, and British Virgin Islands Police, launched marine units to search for the overdue boaters. Coast Guard rescue crews continued to search today for the missing boaters with an HU-25 Falcon Jet and an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter. Since the search began yesterday, the Coast Guard has flown four sorties and covered a search area of approximately 1,050 square nautical miles. ### |
